The Performing Arts Division at New Trier High School is proud to present Kinesis - a student dance company - in concert Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 2-4.
The Kinesis Ensemble will present nine student-choreographed works, the product of individual and collaborative work of 12 student choreographers. The show takes place at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 2-3 and 2 p.m. Feb. 4 in the Cornog Auditorium at the Northfield Campus.
Kinesis provides an opportunity for junior and senior dancers to choreograph and perform their own work under the guidance of artistic directors and Dance Division faculty Christopher Rutt and Johannah Wininsky.
"Artistic collaboration is a key component to the choreographic process," Rutt said. "Not only do the students collaborate with their peers, they also have the unique opportunity to work with professional artists."
This year, the entire Kinesis company will perform an original work entitled "Triptych" by Wininsky in collaboration with guest choreographer Christine Betsill.
The Kinesis choreographers include: Anna Caffarelli, Cat Connaughton, Tess Durham, Tori Edington, AnnaMaria Giannini, Sami Glicken, Kari Hougland, Claire McDonnell, Margaux Nersesian, Julia Porta, Grace Robinson and Molly Zielke.
The ensemble also includes: Kaitlin Bauer, Emma Bliwas, Amy Boyle, Julia Damen, Izzy James, Jamie Kohr, Caroline Lockwood, Katie Lorenz, Merryn Mckeough, Susan Mogck, Anna O'Leary, Louisa Perrin, Joanna Raimo, Charlotte Rammelt, Olivia Rogers, Natalie Shumate and Meghan Smith.
