Media, Speech & Theatre hosted a two-day workshop that introduced students to the technical aspects of working in front of the camera and acting for the camera.
Day One focused on commercial interviews and direct-to-camera "single person copy." Concepts included: helping not selling, using yourself/personalization, creating relationships, playing an action, sense of humor, and listening and discoveries.
Day Two featured work with comedic, television scripts and techniques including: game playing, competition, pace, and discoveries. The workshop closed with a conversation about the business of entertainment.
Students received a short reading prior to the workshops to establish a common vocabulary for the first session. Playback and feedback was offered on both days.
