News and Announcements

  • Dance Day 2019
Dance Day is a revered tradition at New Trier. Begun in the 1970s, this annual event is a day-long festival of dances choreographed and performed by students. Many of our dance classes have been preparing for this most of second and third quarters and some independent dances have auditioned to be a part of this day as well. Each period of Dance Day will feature a new program (with some repeated dances), so no two periods are exactly alike. Parents are welcome to attend any period; please enter through the Gaffney Auditorium lobby. Click here  to view the schedule.
  • NTFAA Student Financial Assistance and Support
Please find the application for financial assistance on the New Trier Fine Arts Association webpage under STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES AND ASSISTANCE.

Department Philosophy

Kinetic Wellness is an integration of physical, mental/emotional and social wellness. The curriculum is grounded in six adolescent wellness indicators: fitness, nutrition, mental/emotional health, sexuality, substance education and safety (prevention of intentional and unintentional injury).

The foundation of Kinetic Wellness courses are included in the following essential understandings:

  • The connection between mind and body is crucial to personal growth and development.
  • Participation in a wide variety of activities provides the opportunity for enjoyment, self-expression and social interaction.
  • Knowledge, competency and application of movement, fitness and wellness concepts encourage healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Self-assessment, self-reflection and a sense of responsibility toward others contribute to individual growth and to the positive climate of the class.
