After falling behind 2-0, New Trier scored 14 unanswered goals to defeat Maine South 17-4 and raise their record to 5-0, 3-0 in the Central Suburban League.
The defense played tough, especially on some strong rides as Claudia Shevitz forced three turnovers and Izzi King forced two, to help the Trevians dominate time of possession and control the tempo of the game. New Trier also owned the ground balls, getting 20 loose balls. King had four to lead the team, Shevitz four, and Annie Thompson, Emma Merk, Olivia Tragos all had two.
The offense had eight different players score. Shevitz had four goals, Thompson had four points (two assists to lead the team) and Amanda Nicholas had a career high three goals. Olivia Zaban, King and Murray all added a pair of goals also.
Along with a strong offensive effort to control the ball, Shevitz, Meier, Katie Busch, Nicholas and Macy Zaban all did a great job on the draw.
Kate Burnham had five saves in the cage, including a couple nice early saves on free position shots to not let Maine South extend an early lead.
