New Trier fell behind 6-4 in the first half, but scored seven unanswered goals and played a great second half to defeat a very talented and well coached Maine South team 19-8.
After going up 4-2, the Hawks scored four goals and dominated the draws to take control of the game. But the Trevians rallied back when Courtney Kaskey scored on a nice assist from Lucy Murray. Murray ignited the offense with four first half goals to regain the lead 7-6 at half.
In the second half, the defense stepped up and New Trier was able to force several turnovers on their ride, including five by Claudia Shevitz. New Trier held Maine South to only two goals, and after going up 10-6 with 16:33 left, the Trevs dominated the rest of the game.
Clare Mulhern also caused two turnovers and Murray finished with seven goals to lead the offense, and Sophia King added two assists and four goals also.
The Trevs are now 2-0 in the Central Suburban League in conference play.
