The Trevs started the IHSA state playoffs by defeating Northside College Prep 20-0. New Trier will face CSL rival Maine South on Wednesday at 5:45 pm at Resurrection High School.
It was the third time the Trevians played Northside in school history. The last time New Trier played the Chicago Public School was in 2005, winning 11-1. The Mustangs made it to the semi-finals in the City Championships this year, falling to Walter Payton. Head coach Lynn Gerbec played at Northside and has worked hard to not only grow the program, but also help grow the sport in the city.
The Trevians had 14 different players score and controlled the tempo and possession by pressuring the Mustangs in the midfield and on transition. Some highlights were sophomore Macy Zaban had seven draw controls and three forced turnovers. Junior Annie Thompson had seven assists. Senior Sammie Johnson had three ground balls.
