Aggressive defensive pressure and fast breaks enabled New Trier to control the possession and pace of the game, and led to a 22-2 win over Deerfield. The Warriors came out fighting, winning several of the first draws, but pressure in the midfield and high pressure double teams led to several turnovers that sparked quick scores for the Trevians.
The defense was led by Charley Meier's three caused turnovers and two caused turnovers by Lydia Kaup. Meier also grabbed five ground balls. Mary Burke and Olivia Zaban also picked up three ground balls each. Sophomore Ella Huber made her varsity debut with three draw controls, and helped direct several draws that helped Claudia Shevitz also get three draws.
New Trier had ten different players score. Senior Olivia Zaban had five goals and an assist. Senior Lucy Murray tallied four goals and two assists. Meier and Shevitz each had three goals. Izzi King added two goals. Alyce Smith, Cassidy Keller,Huber, Macy Zaban and Annie Thompson all scored a goal also.
Kate Burnham had two saves and Val de la Torre had one save.
